ANIMAL YARD

In the vicinity of Cegléd, until the 1960s, the world of smallholdings was well-developed, but nowadays, only traces of it remain.

A smallholding consists of residential and farm buildings, often accompanied by a kitchen garden.

On the smallholding, animals were raised with the fodder produced in the fields and the by-products generated in the garden and kitchen.

The eggs, milk, meat, and fat produced partly met the family's needs, but they were also sold at the urban market, typically transported there by horse-drawn carts.

Horses and cattle, as draft animals, played an important role in agriculture as well.

Our aim is to authentically showcase the breeding of native and domesticated breeds in a truly functioning smallholding at Béni Peasant Courtyard.
